The J Day Off-Road Series held round seven at MX207 in Lyman, Maine, on July 6. With another round of dusty conditions, FMF KTM factory rider Ben Kelley pushed his way to the overall victory after the two 30-minute motos, trading moto wins with AmPro Yamaha’s Brandon Gregoire.

As the racers in the first Pro moto went off the line, Kelley found himself out front, grabbing the Fox Racing holeshot. However, he had troubles on the first lap and slipped back to sixth. Gregoire led the way as Kelley fought back up.
Gregoire went on to win the opening moto with a comfortable 29-second lead over Kelley, who fought his way up through the pack in the dust.
Beta rider Brayden Nolette had a second-place start, which led him to a third-place finish. Ryan Amancio battled his way past Plaistow Powersports rider Justin Cokinos, who rode in second for two laps but dropped back to fifth, where he would finish behind Amancio. Jiggs Fustini was sixth.
In moto two, Kelley was out front with the holeshot, setting himself up for a good lead into the race. As the race progressed, the dust became unbearable in the woods and on the track.
Gregoire had the track and woods dialed, as he passed Kelley on the first lap and stayed in the lead for two laps. On lap three, Kelley made a pass on Gregoire and finished the lap with 10 seconds on him after the Yamaha crashed in the woods. Kelley ended up finishing out the moto in first place, with a 59-second lead over Gregoire, and winning the overall.
Nolette sat in a comfortable third in the second moto, with Fustini holding down fourth. Amancio was just five seconds back in fifth.
Cokinos had some troubles in the second moto, as he raced four motos in a day, struggling with muscle cramps.
On the podium, Kelley’s 2-1 scores landed him the Pro AA overall, Gregoire’s 1-2 scores landed him second, and Nolette’s 3-3 scores rounded out the podium.
The top amateur on the day was Matt Webb (Yamaha), who finished 13th overall and first in A 250, also grabbing the A overall trophy. Jonathan Alipio (KTM) finished 17th overall, winning A 200, and Patrick Gougeon, finishing 18th overall, was the A Open winner.
In Women’s Pro, Ruby Fustini (KTM) made her way back to J Day Off-Road since she took a break after round two due to a previous shoulder injury. Fustini made a great comeback, going 1-1 on the day, finishing 30 seconds ahead of Kayla O’Neil (Yamaha), who was second and currently leads the class.
